LOVE
Another fashion mag that is religiously bought by me. This issue was very inspiring to me while researching into photo shoots for my final major project. It is something that I am very focused on at the moment and as I want this shoot to look amazing, I am taking inspiration from famous professional photographers to see what I could come up with.
These images inspire me with the model poses and the lighting on the models. The black and white effect is also something that I absolutely love, and would consider doing for some of the photographs.
This shoot then was by Mario Testino, one of my all time favourite fashion photographers. His work has inspired me from the start of my fashion career. I have used this shot of Rosie Huntington-Whitely as an inspiration source, again because of her pose. I want my model to have some sort of attitude to show off the clothing. This issue was a much more inspiring journey and I feel like I have come up with some interesting ideas which I hope to explore more in the studio next week.
Wonderland
I do have a huge love for Wonderland magazine and am one of those people who religiously buys it as soon as it hits the shelves. There wasn't much in this issue however that captured my attention. As I am not a huge fan of Nicki Minaj anyway, that made me question the front cover, but didn't let it stop me.
Comme De Garcons menswear collection is the part that I liked the most and their styling. On top of the model's heads they had cushion crowns, hitting my childish side, I found these so cute that I need to share!
London Day 2
Back to the outside of Somerset House, Sunday 19th February.
Today was my day to leave London, so I headed off back to Somerset House to see if I could see any more fashion on the outside. This was also the first time I had actually gone into London completely alone! It was quite worrying thinking about train stops, and whether I was going to miss where I had to get off. I made it though and got myself back to Somerset House.
When I got there, there wasn't that much going on so I feel like I was a little too late. I got myself some street style, but they asked for my card, and sadly I hadn't had any made, so I only took the two street style shots, and got myself a shot of some Viktor & Rolf shoes which were beautiful.
This was a major learning curve for me, and I met so many people which really set up my confidence to go back and do it all over again. I met PR agents, a creative director, the owner of a blog which may get me some photography work when I finish at uni and a film maker. These are all such valuable contacts for my future, and am so grateful for the experience, even if I didn't do that much behind the scenes of the screening.
This was taken outside Somerset House, I loved what she was wearing and approached her for a photo. If I had my cards done I would definitely have gone into more detail about who she was etc. It was nice to just get out there and ask people if I could photograph them and people were so nice about it. It was something I was quite worried about before, but feel a lot more confident about it now.
The lady wearing these shoes did look amazing. She had bright pink hair and a blue blazer, but these shoes definitely stood out to me. As I was walking down the street away from Somerset House I noticed them and just had to get a picture of them. She was another who was so lovely about it. This is definitely something I love. The shoes are from Viktor & Rolf.
A very successful weekend in London which has also given me a lot more confidence and contacts to continue on with my photography project.
Nice long bus journey for me then back to Cardiff. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and being alone wasn't too bad either. Heard from my other half who is in New York at the moment and was a nice time to hear from him as it was his birthday!

London Day 1
Day one of Fashion week, Saturday 18th February.
Crazy experience! A group of us interns got up to London saturday to help designer Jayne Pierson with her fashion week screening at Somerset House. First off, we headed to the PR Studio in Shoreditch, where we met with PR company Bloody Gray. This was to be the model fitting and getting everything ready to head over to Somerset House. I couldn't take photos inside the venue for the fitting or at Somerset House because sadly I only had an exhibition pass and not a press pass. After heading over to Somerset House we were surrounded by fashion as soon as we hit the pavement.
We were not very busy with the screening so set off around the exhibition. I saw celebrities such as Millie Mackintosh and Amber Atherton from Made in Chelsea, Susie Lau, Jameela Jamil and Jay from Dirty Sexy Things. Was such a shame not to have my camera with me because these would have been amazing to capture.
I did manage to get a picture of the Sister by Sibling exhibition in the Newgen exhibition. It is not the best photo as it was taken on my iPhone very quickly.
I thought the collection was beautiful. The colours really stood out from the crowd in this room, and caught the eye as I was walking past. It is a shame this was the only collection I could get a photo of but didn't want to push my luck. I am aiming to get a press pass for September's fashion week and hopefully I will really be able to get the whole feel of what Fashion Week is like when you have a real purpose of being there.

Book London bus ticket. Check. Place to stay. Check. LFW, here I come!
So excited to get into LFW this weekend, it is going to be such a good experience and London definitely a chance to get myself focused.
Once that is done, it's time to get some friends into the photography studio to play with lighting.
Starting from the beginning is hard, but i'm so confident that this is what I want to do, I will push all the way!
